Just Launched: The Yema Skin Diver Slim CMM.20 Limited Edition.

Vintage looks with a fab coffin bracelet.

I will say it right now .. I love this watch ..there you go.. people have said to me that it is too much like the iconic Oris Divers 65 40mm. I think it looks fantastic .. In fact I would go as far to say that apart from the pressed stainless steel clasp ( which is perfectly functional but personally I love a milled clasp just for that extra touch of luxury refinement) spoiling the gorgeous coffin bracelet .. its perfect!

Skin diving gained significant popularity in the mid-20th century, coinciding with the rise of dive watches. and the increased interest in underwater activities post-World War II. This surge in enthusiasm led to a competitive market for skin divers during the 1950s, with various companies competing in the market. A skin diver watch is a specialized timepiece designed for underwater activities, particularly skin diving. So, how does it differ from a dive watch? Frankly speaking, there is no official definition of what a skin diver watch is – other than the fact that the watch is designed for skin diving which is a combination of free diving and snorkelling, meaning that you can either explore from the surface or spend time underwater. Generally, a skin diver watch has a WR rating between 100m and 300m. For this low rating, the watch tends to be slimmer and more ergonomic than other professional diving timepieces.Housed in a 39mm stainless steel case that’s just 10mm thick, is 300m WR and has no ugly bezel lock! The double-dome sapphire crystal is 2mm thick and surrounded by faded ghost grey sapphire bezel insert with a 0 to 60 timer scale.

The movement is Yema’s own micro rota movement ( morteau 20) boasting a 70-hour power reserve, 4Hz frequency and an accuracy of -3/+7 seconds per day it looks amazing in the exhibition caseback.

The aforementioned coffin bracelet (they call it scales) really makes this watch different…I have an original one (on a Bulova Accutron Astronaut) and it is a beautiful thing to wear.. although mine is slightly fragile because it is after all 58 years old (same as myself) but in better condition. This new one though should have no such issues. I do feel though that at this price point the cheap clasp should be a milled affair. I don’t have a skin Diver in my collection and if I was going to this would be on the short list .

The Yema Skin Diver Slim CMM.20 is presented as a limited edition of 500 pieces. The watch comes with a 5-year warranty and is priced at EUR 2,249
