My love for the Tudor FXD (and why I sold it)

I can’t quite remember the exact moment I fell in love with the Tudor Pelagos FXD, but I clearly remember the date and time I first clapped eyes on it. The 10th of November 2021 at 12.00 GMT. This was the launch date and I joined the livestream of another youtuber to witness this event…….

There were disparaging comments about the watch from the outset, complaints that it had fixed lugs (the FXD in its name) So a bracelet cannot be fitted, and ugly lugs at that and they also mocked the meagre 200 meters water resistance. This prompted me to record an impromptu video on the channel justifying the watches existence as I see this is the definitive “Tool Watch” designed to be a tool for the French Marine Nationale. If it doesn’t need it (whatever ‘it’ maybe) it doesn’t have it. The reduction in WR from 500 metres to 200 meters also reduced the thickness of the watch by two and a quarter mm and the reason for the fixed lugs is because they are stipulated as a requirement by the M.N. The ability to fit a bracelet however, is not required. Then ..in January the next year one unexpectedly landed in lap. I borrowed one for review and simply never gave it back… I bought it at above retail.

They were becoming scarce already with the 2021 model fetching double the RRP on certain selling portals, and yes my FXD proudly boasts M.N 21 on the case back, just like the old Tudor Snowflakes did with their respective “birthyear” on the back.

Quite frankly I don’t care if you cant fit a bracelet, anyone who follows the channel will know I am the military watch nerd of the team and I simply love this watch because of the blue dial..The way the bidirectional bezel moves, the lume that will burn your eyeballs out and the complete “uber” coolness you feel when wearing it. That was in 2022, so WHY did I sell it in 2023???

WelI I always loved space “stuff”( which i consider to having a military “slant”) and I fell in love with the Speedy so I sold the FXD privately for a decent price, but who knows one may arrive back in the collection at some point.
