Just launched: Breitling Military Inspired Avenger

3 colour choices for the dial and a stealth black ceramic case.

There is no shortage of watches out there that are made to celebrate a particular person or organization ( the Bruce Lee and Brian May Seiko’s and citizen Red Arrow spring to mind) and the 3 new offerings from Breitling are no different but in this writer’s humble opinion are worth the effort. While the Breitling Avenger was released more recently, its origins remain linked to Breitling’s history with aviation. The Avenger was released in 2001. Among the first in this series was the titanium Breitling Chrono Avenger ref. E13360, made between 2001 and 2007

Sometime in the mid 2000’s this iconic piece was discontinued but when Georges Kern joined Breitling in 2017,one of the changes he made was to relaunch the Breitling Avenger! This new beast was now aimed at real pilots and sportspeople, with a promotional team that included astronaut Scott Kelly.fast forward to today and these editions are dedicated to the United States Naval Academy and two of the U.S. Navy’s elite air test squadrons: the Dust Devils and the Bloodhounds. Each execution features the unit’s emblem and color scheme, red and black for the Dust Devils, gray and yellow for the Bloodhounds and blue and gold for the U.S. Naval Academy.as well as a dedicated engraving surrounding the open case back view of the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 All three feature black ceramic cases and titanium hardware accompanied by military leather straps with contrasting top stitching.accompanied by military leather straps with contrasting top stitching.

I was recently gifted a Black Breitling Superocean 44 (2016 model) which as the name suggests is 44mm ( the same as these 3) on my 7.5 inch wrist it is perfect .. weight wise you are aware you have the steel “Beast” on it on but the new models will be lighter being fully ceramic . Inside each of the Breitling Avenger U.S. Naval Editions models is the brand’s in-house Caliber 01 automatic chronograph movement. The Caliber 01.This has been Breitling’s go-to in-house chronograph movement for several years and stands as an impressively capable, modern design with excellent performance across the board. Its hefty 70-hour power reserve at a 28,800 bph beat rate is supplemented by a column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph actuation system, and the movement is COSC chronometer-certified for accuracy.

M.W.C secures M.O.D G10 Contract.

The Military Watch Company finally got the contract it sought after for many years.

“Every dog has its day” is an old phrase that means that “if you continue trying then one day you may succeed” Never has this had more meaning than in the following tale. The quartz “G10”  was the first quartz watch supplied to the British military, with the name coming from the G1098 form which was completed before one was issued. The correct term is General Service Watch. it is a simple 36mm no-date 3-handed Quartz with fixed lug pins as per the standards required by the M.O.D.

Just launched: The Ralf -Tech Space Millenium.

A collaboration with CNES (The French National Space Agency)

This hobby amazes me .. to the casual observer the “space watch” starts and stops with the immense Omega Speedmaster, but take a closer look and you will find hundreds of models (either issued or personal luggage) that broke through to the exosphere, there is even a whole Facebook page dedicated to them.

Just launched: New Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra with glossy black dial.

This possible one and done gets a facelift.

Wait ..did I really say “one and done”? yes ..the Aqua Terra -any Aqua Terra can do everything (within reason). ok so it doesn’t have a bezel, any kind of complication and a lowish WR of 150m but what else would you really need? it looks fab on the bracelet a leather strap or even a NATO.I own a 2015 Aqua Terra Bumblebee (So called as the second hand is striped yellow and black) The Seamaster Aqua Terra (I sometimes forget it is part of the Seamaster family) was first introduced in 2002 to bridge the gap between a sports watch and a dress watch.

Just Launched: The Yema Skin Diver Slim CMM.20 Limited Edition.

Vintage looks with a fab coffin bracelet.

I will say it right now .. I love this watch ..there you go.. people have said to me that it is too much like the iconic Oris Divers 65 40mm. I think it looks fantastic .. In fact I would go as far to say that apart from the pressed stainless steel clasp ( which is perfectly functional but personally I love a milled clasp just for that extra touch of luxury refinement) spoiling the gorgeous coffin bracelet .. its perfect!
